About the Coach

David VanDenburgh has been coaching people in life change for more than 30 years.  He has trained with a number of organizations including Marshall Goldsmith's Alliance for Strategic Leadership (A4SL), the Covey Leadership Center, and The Institute for Life Coach TrainingDSCN2901e.jpg.  He currently directs the coaching program of the Christian Leadership Center at Andrews University.

He has a special interest in non-profits of all kinds because of the services they render to those most in need - hospitals, schools, community service agencies - but his greatest love is the Church - the means by which God intends to change lives most profoundly and for the greatest good - and he is deeply committed to helping church leaders develop their leadership abilities for the greater good.

He has a master's degree from a theological seminary, a doctoral degree in the theology of leadership, and more than 30 years of experience leading and serving non-profits of many kinds: churches, schools, hospitals, denominational judicatories, boards and executive committees.

His approach to coaching is founded on the conviction that every person is designed by God to become far more than the circumstances of life have allowed and that each can become far more and far better with vision, intention and discipline.  The ultimate realization of God's design is found in "being conformed to the image of Christ", which brings one to the true greatness of servanthood.

David often says that the best thing about being a coach is that one does not need to know the answers - only the questions - because the coach believes the client can find the answers, make the plans, change the behaviors, solve the problems - if asked the right questions and given the right support.  This is pastoral coaching - Christian empowerment - at its best.
